New student homes in wooden apartment building in Tapiola
In spring 2021, a wooden apartment building will be completed at Tuuliniitty 1, in the centre of Tapiola, with 154 studio apartments and 11 family apartments.
These apartments are cozy and modern; the floors are made of wood-patterned vinyl planks, the walls and kitchen cupboards are white, and the bathrooms have black-and-white tiling. The ceilings have wooden surfaces as a call-back to the building’s main construction material.
The building’s first floor houses the bicycle storages, the laundry facility with free-of-charge washing machines and dryers. Next to the laundry room there is a shared living room for the tenants where they can study and spend time while waiting for their laundry to be done. The top floor has a roof sauna available to all the tenants as well as a club room. The building also has good waste sorting and recycling facilities.
The apartments, made with solid wood, were put together and nearly finished in the factory facilities in Kuhmo. When they arrived to Tapiola, the apartment elements already featured such components as the final surface materials, fixtures and household appliances. The wooden elements were then lifted in their places in Tapiola, making the building a second highest wooden apartment building in Finland.
Thanks to Tuuliniitty’s convenient location next to Tapiola metro station and a bus terminal, it is easy to travel to many different directions from this site. Pedestrian and cycling traffic have also been invested in Tapiola, and it is part of the HSL’s city bike network. Tuuliniitty is a car-free residential area.
Its location in the centre of Tapiola guarantees excellent and diverse services; everything from grocery shopping to restaurants and sports activities to cultural experiences are just a short distance away.
